About Us
At the heart of our club is the care and protection of Keel Lake. We act as stewards to safeguard the lake, monitor water health, and protect its wild brown trout and natural ecosystems. To preserve fish stocks for future generations, fishing on Keel Lake is strictly catch-and-release, running seasonally from 12th February to 30th September. Permitted fishing methods are fly fishing, spinning, and bubble-and-fly. All anglers require a valid permit before taking to the water, which can be purchased directly on our website.

What We Do
Hikes
We encourage members and visitors to explore our island’s breathtaking landscape. By promoting local walking trails, hill hikes, and outdoor activities, we inspire people of all ages to stay active and appreciate Achill’s natural beauty.
Target Shooting
Building on decades of tradition, we also offer structured clay target shooting. Our emphasis remains strictly on skill development, equipment safety, and friendly competition in a supportive, fully supervised environment.
Events
The club hosts a range of engaging community events, including fly fishing demonstrations, falconry displays, and much more. We also host other clubs from across the country to share knowledge, showcase traditional skills, and celebrate local sporting heritage.
